Amid COVID-19 lockdown rules in 2020, social media users appeared to "discover" a brand new quotation from the classic dystopian novel "1984".
However, after a thorough search through the novel it was discovered the quotation was not authentic and did not originate in “1984” or anything else written or uttered by Orwell. In fact, this quotation does not appear anywhere until the year 2020. People who have tried to trace this quotation have found that it probably originated in Germany in 2020, and then it was translated into various languages, including English.
